• Add luster dust after the boiling water step — heat doesn’t affect the shimmer, but this is when it disperses best
• 1/8 tsp per cup is the sweet spot; more doesn’t mean more shimmer
• Pink, purple, and blue together make these look like a galaxy on a tray
• Set time is at least 2 hours — don’t rush it
Jell-O shots are already a party move. Add edible glitter and they become the thing everyone photographs before they drink. These are some of the best edible glitter cocktails we’ve made — easy, loud, and genuinely gorgeous.
Ingredients
Ingredients
- 3 boxes Jell-O (3 oz each — strawberry, grape, and berry blue work perfectly)
- 3 cups Boiling water (1 cup per flavor)
- 3 cups Vodka, chilled (1 cup per flavor)
- 3/8 tsp Pink Luster Dust
- 3/8 tsp Purple Luster Dust
- 3/8 tsp Blue Luster Dust
Instructions
Work one flavor at a time. Pour one box of Jell-O powder into a bowl or large measuring cup and add 1 cup of boiling water. Stir for about 2 minutes until completely dissolved — no visible granules.
This is the step. Pinch in 1/8 tsp of the matching luster dust — Pink Luster Dust for strawberry, Purple Luster Dust for grape, Blue Luster Dust for berry blue. Whisk for 30 seconds. The mixture will go from flat to visibly shimmery. It looks ridiculous in the best way.
Pour in 1 cup of cold vodka and stir gently. You want it combined, not foamy. The cold vodka will start cooling the mixture down, which is good.
Fill your shot cups about 3/4 full. A small measuring cup with a pour spout makes this way cleaner. Repeat steps 1–3 for each flavor.
Set the tray in the fridge for at least 2 hours. Closer to 4 is better — they’ll release cleanly from the cups and hold their shape. The shimmer sets right into the gelatin and stays visible all the way through.

Tips
Yes. Coconut rum, peach schnapps, or white tequila all work. Just keep it cold when you add it — warm spirits can make the Jell-O take longer to set. Rum and peach schnapps pair especially well with the pink.
1/8 tsp per cup of liquid is the move. We’ve tested more — it doesn’t make them shimmer more, it just makes the color slightly murkier. The mica particles need room to catch light. For more on how edible glitter behaves in liquid, our complete guide to edible glitter in drinks covers it in full detail.
All three luster dust colors used here are FDA compliant, made from food-grade German mica pigments — completely tasteless and odorless. They add zero flavor, just shimmer.
