• White luster dust disappears into the creamy base — then catches light as you move the glass
• 1/8 tsp per drink is exactly right. More kills the shimmer.
• Blend first, add glitter last, give it one slow stir
• FDA compliant, tasteless, completely safe in drinks
White Shimmer Piña Colada
Creamy, tropical, and somehow shimmering. The White Luster Dust floats through the coconut cream like something out of a dream. Takes five minutes and looks like it took a lot longer.
Ingredients
- 2 oz White rum
- 4 oz Pineapple juice (fresh-squeezed if you have it)
- 2 oz Cream of coconut (Coco López is the one)
- 1 cup Ice
- 1/8 tsp White Luster Dust
- 1 Pineapple wedge, for garnish
- 1 tbsp Toasted coconut flakes, for garnish
Add rum, pineapple juice, cream of coconut, and ice to a blender. Blend until smooth — you want it thick but still pourable. If it looks like a slushie, you nailed it.
Pour into a chilled hurricane glass or whatever tall glass you’ve got. Then — and this matters — add the white edible glitter after you pour. Sprinkle 1/8 tsp directly on top.
Use a long spoon or straw to give it one slow swirl from the bottom up. Just one. The glitter distributes itself through the drink and catches the light as it settles. Done.
Pineapple wedge on the rim, pinch of toasted coconut on top. The coconut adds texture contrast to the shimmer — it’s a nice detail.

White works so well here because the coconut cream base is already pale and creamy — the shimmer reads as a kind of inner glow rather than sparkle on top. It’s subtle. That’s the point. For something more dramatic, our Gold Luster Dust turns this into a golden version that hits completely differently.
New to using white edible glitter in drinks? The [how-to guide covers everything](https://lusterdust.com/how-to-use-edible-glitter-in-drinks-the-complete-guide/) — particle behavior, quantities, what actually makes shimmer work in liquid. Worth a read before your first batch.
And if anyone asks whether it’s safe to put glitter in a drink: yes. Fully FDA compliant, tasteless, vegan, no GMOs. [The full breakdown is here](https://lusterdust.com/is-edible-glitter-actually-safe-everything-you-need-to-know/) if you want to send it to a skeptical friend.

Totally normal — heavier particles settle with time. Add the glitter right before serving and give it that one slow stir. If you’re making a batch for a party, keep the luster dust on the side and add it glass by glass as you pour. Stirring again right before handing it over works fine too.
Yes. Skip the rum and add an extra ounce of pineapple juice. Everything else stays the same. The shimmer works identically in the mocktail version — same slow swirl, same glow.
Absolutely. Scale up and blend in batches. Keep the blended base in a pitcher without the glitter, then add 1/8 tsp per glass as you pour. Don’t add it to the whole pitcher — it clumps and settles unevenly. Glass by glass is the move.
