• Silver edible glitter turns a standard margarita into something that looks genuinely expensive
• 1/8 tsp per glass is the right amount — more than that and you lose the shimmer effect
• Shake first, add the glitter last for the best visual
• Light green luster dust on the rim adds a second layer of shimmer that’s worth the extra 10 seconds
Silver looks unreal in a margarita. The lime juice gives the drink this pale, slightly cloudy green that makes the silver edible glitter catch light differently than it does in champagne or clear spirits. It moves. Try it once and you’ll make it for every guest you have.
Ingredients
- 2 oz Blanco tequila
- 1 oz Fresh lime juice (about 1 large lime)
- 3/4 oz Triple sec or Cointreau
- 1/2 oz Agave nectar
- 1/8 tsp Silver Luster Dust
- 1/4 tsp Light Green Luster Dust (for the rim)
- 1 tbsp Coarse salt (for the rim)
- 1 handful Ice
Mix the coarse salt and Light Green Luster Dust on a small flat plate. Run a lime wedge around the edge of a coupe or rocks glass, then press the rim into the salt mixture. Set aside. The green shimmer in the salt is subtle — it catches when the light hits the glass at the right angle.
Add tequila, lime juice, triple sec, and agave to a cocktail shaker with a big handful of ice. Shake hard for about 15 seconds. You want it cold — properly cold, not just chilled.
Strain the margarita into your prepped glass over a large ice cube, or straight up into the coupe. Don’t add the glitter yet.
Measure 1/8 tsp of Silver Luster Dust and drop it into the center of the drink. Give the glass a single slow swirl — not a stir, just a rotation of your wrist. The silver will disperse in a spiral. That’s the moment. Serve immediately.

More glitter doesn’t mean more shimmer. Past a certain point the particles clump and the drink looks murky instead of luminous. 1/8 tsp in a standard 4oz pour is the sweet spot — you get full coverage when the drink moves, without cloudiness.
For looks, yes. The coupe shows off the shimmer better because the drink surface is wider and more visible. A rocks glass over a big ice cube works great too, especially if you’re serving multiples at a party and need something sturdy. Skip the standard margarita glass — the stem is awkward with a shimmer drink that needs a gentle swirl to activate.
Absolutely. Scale up the tequila, lime, triple sec, and agave — mix without ice in a pitcher and refrigerate. When guests arrive, shake individual portions with ice to order, then add glitter per glass just before serving. Never batch the glitter into the pitcher. It settles, clumps, and the first person gets all of it.
