Turn Every Drink Into a Showstopper
Edible luster dust isn’t just for cakes anymore. Bartenders and home mixologists are discovering what pastry chefs have known for years — a little shimmer goes a long way. Here are five ways to make your cocktails unforgettable.
1. The Classic Swirl
Add a small pinch (about 1/8 teaspoon) of luster dust directly to your cocktail and give it a gentle stir. As the particles suspend in the liquid, they create a mesmerizing galaxy-like swirl. Gold and Rose Gold are the most popular colors for this technique — they make champagne cocktails look absolutely stunning.
2. The Rim Glow
Wet the rim of your glass with citrus juice or simple syrup, then dip it into a small plate of luster dust. This creates a shimmering rim that catches the light. Try this with our Silver luster dust on a margarita glass or Pink on a cosmopolitan.
3. The Layered Shimmer
Use a pump spray bottle to mist luster dust onto the surface of a finished cocktail. This creates a concentrated shimmer effect on top of the drink that gradually cascades down as the guest takes their first sip. Light Blue looks incredible on gin and tonics.
4. Shimmer Ice Cubes
Mix luster dust into water before freezing it in ice cube trays. As the cubes melt in the drink, they slowly release shimmering particles. This is a crowd-pleaser at parties because each drink evolves as the ice melts.
5. The Champagne Tower
For weddings and special events, add Gold luster dust to champagne bottles before pouring a tower. The shimmer cascades from glass to glass, creating an unforgettable visual experience. A 10g jar is enough for approximately 80+ glasses.
